Apprenticeship

We have openings for three apprentices. The season goes from May to the end of October. Apprentices are expected to have gardening experience. Much of the work is gardening, harvesting, and making herbal products. There is a lot of physical labor. Throughout the season, there will be opportunities to learn about growing, harvesting, drying, making herbal products, and their clinical application. This is an unpaid position, where we trade labor for learning. You are expected to work a minimum of 15 farm hours weekly, additionally one Saturday a month at the farmers market. The market offers an opportunity to learn about the language requirements herbalists need to adhere to. You will acquire an extensive apothecary from plants we harvest during the season, as well as some medicinal herb starts and seeds. If you are interested in applying, please email or post a letter describing yourself, your education, employment and relevant life experience, skills and interests, and objectives/goals in working here.
